Structure Under Interruption – Fine Art Print

Description

The surface is heavily worked and visibly altered, carrying scraped passages, dragged pigment, and scored lines that cut back through earlier layers. Paint has been applied, removed, and reasserted, leaving a surface marked by interruption rather than refinement. Drips, breaks, and flaking traces of gold remain as residue, suggesting prior states rather than finish.

A grid-like structure runs through the composition, but it is damaged and misaligned. Vertical and horizontal lines fail to meet cleanly, slipping and fracturing under pressure. The geometry feels imposed and industrial, yet repeatedly compromised by abrasion and revision. Nothing here sits neatly or resolves into symmetry.

A dense blue block occupies the centre, acting as a temporary anchor rather than a stabilising force. Around it, red and grey fields press, bleed, and drag across the surface, creating friction instead of balance. These surrounding areas feel stressed and unstable, as if the structure is being tested rather than supported.

The process is left fully exposed. Marks remain uncorrected, edges uneven, and surfaces worn. The work holds tension between construction and failure, presenting structure not as certainty, but as something repeatedly interrupted, reinforced, and pushed toward collapse.
