Description

Held in the Fracture is built from a visibly worked surface, marked by scored planes, fractured seams, and layered material that refuses to be smoothed or resolved. The composition carries the evidence of process openly: etched lines, broken edges, and compressed forms remain exposed rather than concealed.

A pale, mineral-dominated field is disrupted by structural breaks that cut through the work with quiet insistence. These fractures are not decorative; they function as load-bearing elements within the composition, holding tension across the surface rather than releasing it. Linear interventions punctuate the space, reinforcing a sense of containment under pressure.

A restrained incision of deep red runs through the lower section of the work, introducing a sharp note of disruption against the otherwise austere palette. This interruption does not dominate the piece but anchors it, grounding the composition in physical consequence rather than symbolism.

The work balances order and disruption without resolving either. It presents a surface that feels weathered, compressed, and held in suspension — a record of decisions, revisions, and resistance left deliberately visible. Nothing here is softened or made polite.

This is work that demands space and stillness. Its impact emerges through proximity and time rather than immediacy.
