Description

This work presents a face assembled from worn surfaces, fractured planes, and patched fragments that refuse to fully resolve. Layers appear scraped back and re-applied, with visible seams, abrasions, and uneven joins left deliberately exposed. The surface carries the evidence of revision — areas that look repaired rather than refined, as though stability has been negotiated rather than achieved.

The facial structure is divided and incomplete. One eye is reduced to a hollowed circle, dense and closed, while the other is suggested only by a thin wire contour. The mouth is loosely bound, not sealed, held together by fragile lines that imply restraint rather than silence. These elements introduce tension between presence and absence, control and vulnerability.

Muted earth tones and dulled metallic traces move across the composition without settling into harmony. Gold appears worn and subdued, functioning as a scar rather than an embellishment. The palette reinforces a sense of endurance — not collapse, but sustained effort under pressure.

The process remains visible throughout. Nothing is smoothed or disguised; edges are left rough, surfaces imperfect, and construction marks intact. The work resists idealisation and instead documents a state of quiet maintenance — a figure held together through persistence rather than resolution.
