Growth That Refused Containment – Fine Art Print

Description

This work is constructed as a dense, tiled field of fractured panels that feel assembled under pressure rather than arranged for order. Red and charcoal blocks are cracked, stressed, and unevenly aligned, forming a rigid grid that carries the weight of masonry rather than pattern. The surface reads as built and weathered, with fissures and breaks left exposed.

Threaded through this structure are copper-toned vine elements that do not decorate the grid but disrupt it. They creep, press, and cross boundaries, cutting across joints and fractures as if claiming the surface rather than resting on it. The contrast between rigid panels and invasive growth creates sustained tension — structure versus persistence, containment versus refusal.

Process is fully visible. Panels appear placed, fractured, and held, while the vine forms assert themselves beyond the limits of the grid. The work carries a flinty austerity, where nothing is softened or resolved. This is not a composition seeking balance, but one that records endurance — a surface built to contain, and a force that exceeds it.
