Faultline Accord – Fine Art Print

Description

The surface of this work reads as stressed and weathered. Paint appears dragged, poured, fractured, and reworked. A vertical band of scorched orange and oxidised rust cuts through the composition, flanked by a colder blue spine that feels pressed into place rather than gently applied. The pigment is not laid softly; it is driven downward, leaving residue, drips, and abrasion in its wake.

Across the right field, the white ground behaves like brittle plaster. Hairline cracks spread outward in irregular networks, as though the surface has expanded and contracted under pressure. These fractures are not decorative details; they are structural events. The work feels stressed but not broken.

A narrow gold seam slices horizontally across the centre — a deliberate interruption. It reads like a tectonic joint, a forced meeting point between upper and lower planes. Beneath it, forms blur and shift. The lower section mirrors and distorts the upper elements, creating a visual echo that feels less like reflection and more like displacement. The composition appears split and reassembled.

There is no attempt to smooth the tension. Thick ridges of paint remain visible. Edges are scraped back. Certain areas appear scarred or sanded down before being built up again. Every crack and layer exposes the history of revision.

“Faultline Accord” holds opposing forces in deliberate proximity — heat against frost, order against fracture, vertical insistence against horizontal restraint. The agreement suggested in the title is not gentle; it is negotiated under strain.

This work does not aim for balance in a traditional sense. It documents pressure and containment — the moment where fracture becomes structure.
