Divided Bearing – Fine Art Print

Description

The surface of Divided Bearing is scraped, fractured, and left visibly worked. Large circular forms carry cracked skins and broken edges, with paint split and stressed rather than smoothed into continuity. The red upper disc shows clear rupture: fissures, abrasions, and areas where material has lifted and broken back, exposing the history of pressure beneath. Surrounding greys and whites are scuffed and worn, thinned in places to a chalked residue that refuses polish.

The composition is divided vertically, enforcing separation rather than balance. One side carries weight and damage, the other restraint and abrasion. Circular outlines repeat but never resolve into symmetry. Fine linear arcs cut across the field like stress paths, mapping force rather than decoration. The lower forms feel compressed into place, their edges pressing against the surrounding surface as though held under load.

Texture logic shifts across the work. Cracked and battered passages sit against smoother, colder planes, creating a constant friction between rupture and control. The geometry holds, but only under strain. There is no attempt to soften transitions or disguise corrections; each layer remains exposed, each mark a record of decision and revision.

The work feels austere and flinty, stripped of comfort. It does not seek harmony. Instead, it sustains itself through opposition — bearing weight by resisting collapse rather than settling into ease.
