Crossing Under Measure – Fine Art Print

Description

This work is built through restraint rather than force. Broad planes of pale grey, chalked white, and weathered cream are layered and partially erased, their surfaces carrying fine scratches, stains, and faint abrasions that record revision without spectacle. 

The ground feels worn and held in check, as though the composition has been tested repeatedly before settling into its present alignment.

Circular forms anchor the structure with deliberate weight. The larger ochre disc is positioned with authority, its surface dulled and scuffed rather than polished, while the smaller grey circle counters it quietly, stabilising the field without symmetry. Thin horizontal and vertical lines cut through the space like measured interventions, some broken, some fading, none asserting dominance. They suggest alignment systems that have been adjusted, interrupted, and left exposed.

A small gold circle sits apart from the main exchange, introducing distance and scale rather than ornament. Its placement feels considered but unresolved, holding tension through separation rather than connection. Throughout the piece, geometry is present but never pristine; edges soften, alignments drift, and surfaces remain visibly worked.

The result is a composition that advances through control and calibration. Movement is slow, deliberate, and conditional. Nothing here rushes toward balance. Instead, the work occupies the space between structure and erosion, where order is maintained only through constant measurement and quiet correction.
