Description

This work is constructed from layered, curling forms that appear bent, pressed, and set into a rigid architectural grid. The surface is distressed and fractured in places, with flaking textures and exposed underlayers that reveal the history of handling. Nothing is polished away. The cracks and worn patches remain visible, giving the composition a weathered authority.

The dominant forms sweep across the surface in heavy, graphite-toned arcs. They feel carved or folded rather than painted — sheets shaped into motion and fixed in place. Beneath them, a structured grid framework anchors the composition, preventing the movement from dispersing. The tension lies in this contrast: flowing forms contained within strict geometry.

Subtle gold flecking and scattered surface abrasions interrupt the dark palette, acting as residue rather than embellishment. The tonal range remains restrained — charcoal, slate, deep grey — allowing depth and shadow to carry the weight of the piece.

The movement here is not chaotic. It is held. The curls suggest force, but the background structure enforces discipline. The composition reads as a constructed wall panel with industrial presence — dimensional, controlled, and unapologetically austere.

This is motion restrained by design. Energy that refuses to spill.
