Built Under Interruption – Fine Art Print

Description

This work is constructed from compressed blocks of colour that feel placed, stressed, and partially undone. Rectangular fields of pink, blue, ochre, navy, and white are layered thickly, then fractured by scrapes, breaks, and vertical drips that cut through the structure. The surface carries the weight of assembly rather than arrangement.

The composition suggests a grid, but it refuses to behave as one. Lines slip, edges buckle, and seams split under pressure. Paint skins appear dragged and reworked, leaving uneven ridges and exposed underlayers. Drips are not incidental; they read as breaches — moments where the surface gives way and reveals instability beneath the build.

Process is fully exposed. Nothing is smoothed over or corrected. The history of decisions remains visible in the scraped passages, ruptured blocks, and disrupted joins. The result is austere and flinty rather than decorative — a structure held together through insistence, not balance.
