Description

This work is constructed from fractured planes, layered panels, and sharply cut edges that remain deliberately exposed. The surface appears assembled rather than painted — pieces set into position, bent, layered, and held under visible strain. Scraped textures, distressed surfaces, and fractured joins create a field that feels engineered after disruption rather than smoothed into harmony.

A firm vertical seam divides the composition into two opposing structures. On the left, ochre, rust, and burnt amber tones build a face from angular shards and layered relief. The eye is open and alert, set within planes that feel sharpened and restless. On the right, slate, steel, and deep blue surfaces form a cooler counterpart — more restrained, more controlled, yet equally fractured. The eye here appears sealed, reduced to a contained line within the structure.

Edges overlap and cut across one another. Nothing is concealed. The process remains visible in lifted panels, chipped transitions, and scored lines that record adjustment and placement. The relief work gives the piece dimensional authority — it reads as a constructed wall panel rather than a flat image.

The composition does not resolve the divide. It acknowledges it. Both halves hold their ground, assembled side by side in tension. The central seam is not decorative; it is structural. This is a composition that wears its fractures openly and stands intact because of them, not despite them.

It is built, not blended.
