Description

The surface is constructed from modular blocks and rigid planes arranged in deliberate tension. Rectilinear forms stack, offset, and interlock, forming a system that feels engineered rather than improvised. Each section carries visible joins, hairline fractures, and layered adjustments, recording a process of assembly rather than refinement.

A continuous curved element cuts through the structure, introducing motion that refuses containment. This ribbon-like form bends, stretches, and redirects itself as it passes through the grid, operating under tension rather than freedom. It does not disrupt the structure violently; instead, it negotiates its passage, asserting persistence without collapse.

Colour is used with restraint and intent. Warm ochres and oranges are grounded against darker fields, while pale, blade-like vertical elements act as stabilising anchors. The contrast between curved and angular, warm and cool, rigid and tensile creates a controlled imbalance that holds the composition in suspension.

Surface texture remains active throughout. Fine cracks, scuffed edges, and layered wear prevent the work from becoming slick or decorative. The process is visible but disciplined — decisions made, revised, and left intact. Nothing is hidden or softened.

This work documents movement within constraint. It does not celebrate disorder or impose harmony. It records a force threading its way through a structure designed to resist it, holding together through tension rather than resolution.
