Ascent Under Load – Fine Art Print

Description

The surface is fractured and unsettled, built from layered blue fields scored with fine cracks and interruptions that refuse smooth resolution. Pigment is dragged, scraped, and broken back, leaving stress lines visible beneath the colour. The ground does not read as open space; it feels pressurised, unstable, and resistant.

A bird form emerges mid-ascent, constructed from plated gold fragments and darkened blue mass. The wings are not fluid or lyrical — they appear torn, reinforced, and reassembled, their edges rigid and strained. Gold functions here as structural reinforcement rather than ornament, hammered into place as if flight requires armour. The body carries weight, not lightness.

Red marks strike across the surface as interruption rather than accent. They register as impact points, moments of damage or resistance, held deliberately in tension with the upward movement of the figure. Beneath the wings, downward drips pull against ascent, asserting gravity as an active force that cannot be escaped, only negotiated.

Along the right edge, a torn vertical break exposes the work as fragment rather than scene. The image does not present completion or narrative closure. It records a moment of effort under constraint — motion achieved despite pressure, not because it has been resolved.

The process remains exposed throughout. Cracks, tears, reinforcements, and gravity are left visible as evidence of endurance. This is not an image of freedom. It is an image of lift achieved under load.
