Description

The surface is scored and fractured, built from layered abrasions, dragged pigment, and broken fields that press against one another without settling. Marks appear scraped back and reworked, leaving scars where earlier decisions were forced to give way. The composition feels compressed, as if the image has absorbed pressure over time rather than arriving at balance by design.

Black linear strikes cut through the body of the work like stress fractures, sharp and unresolved. They refuse alignment, creating tension between direction and resistance. Beneath them, rusted reds and earthen browns are embedded into the structure, partially buried, as though trapped under accumulated weight. These tones do not decorate the surface; they register as remnants — evidence of earlier force.

A pale, ruptured form runs through the centre, fractured and feathered at its edges. It reads as a shear zone rather than a highlight — a point where the surface gave way under strain. Nothing is smoothed or concealed. Each layer exposes its history, every scrape and interruption left visible as part of the record.

This work holds the aftermath rather than the impact itself. It does not resolve the damage or seek harmony. It stands as a document of pressure endured — a surface that carries its stress openly, without apology.
