Counterweight Dialogue – Fine Art Print

Description

The surface of Counterweight Dialogue is visibly worked and left exposed. Broad circular forms are scored and scraped into place, their edges roughened and uneven, with paint allowed to pool, drag, and break under its own weight. Drips run vertically through the composition, dark and uninterrupted, recording gravity rather than gesture. The surface carries scuffs, fractures, and thin translucent layers that overlap without resolving into a single clean plane.

The composition is built around imbalance. A dominant pale disc presses outward from a dense black surround, while a smaller, darker circular form anchors the lower field. Between them, the structure feels strained, as though held in check rather than stabilised. Geometry is present but unsettled, disrupted by irregular edges, streaking marks, and the refusal of lines to fully contain themselves.

Nothing here is smoothed or concealed. Each mark reads as a decision that was not erased, each layer a visible correction rather than a refinement. The space remains stark and flinty, with areas that feel stripped back and unresolved. The work resists harmony, holding instead to a controlled tension — a balance maintained through resistance rather than symmetry.
