Description

The surface is built through scored arcs, pressed bands, and layered planes that carry clear evidence of process. Marks are not concealed or softened; edges are cut, dragged, and reworked, leaving a surface that feels worked over rather than finished off. The geometry is fractured and assertive, with lines that act as restraints rather than guides, holding the composition under visible tension.

Curved forms sweep across the field in controlled motion, intersecting with vertical elements that feel structural and deliberate. These opposing forces create a sense of contained energy — movement held in check rather than released. Colour is embedded within the structure rather than applied decoratively, with ochre and bone tones forming the dominant field while blues, purples, and reds surface as exposed layers beneath, reinforcing the sense of depth and revision.

The process remains visible throughout. Scrapes, overlaps, and interruptions record decisions made and reconsidered, giving the work a physical honesty. Nothing is smoothed or harmonised for comfort. The composition stands firm, austere, and intentional — a study in pressure, balance, and restraint rather than expression for its own sake.
