Description

Orientation Without a Body is structured around alignment, containment, and refusal. The surface is divided by rigid linear grids that impose order without offering resolution. Within these constraints, curved planes, circular nodes, and fractured fields press and drift, never fully settling into form.

The composition suggests direction without identity. Arcs and discs imply turning, facing, and position, yet no figure ever resolves. What appears at first glance as profile dissolves under scrutiny into structure and interruption. The grid does not organise the elements—it restricts them. Movement exists only in negotiation with the system that holds it.

Gold-toned forms function as anchors rather than accents. They feel industrial, worn, and weight-bearing, marking pressure points across the surface. Beneath them, layered greys, whites, and muted ochres remain visibly worked—scraped, lifted, and fractured—leaving the process exposed rather than refined.

This is not an abstracted figure, but an abstracted condition. The work holds orientation—left and right, forward and resisted—without offering a body to inhabit it. Presence is implied through alignment alone, leaving the viewer to confront structure without narrative and position without personhood.
