The surface is stripped back and uncompromising. Fine wire lines score the space with surgical precision, forming a face that feels assembled rather than drawn. The marks are exposed, brittle in places, bent and reworked elsewhere. Nothing is smoothed or disguised; every twist and fracture remains visible.

Order and disruption sit side by side. The geometry of the face suggests control, yet the structure never fully settles. Lines drift, overlap, and resist symmetry. The composition holds together by tension alone, as though one adjustment too many could cause it to split.

The gilded areas do not soften the work. Instead, they emphasise the breaks — highlighting points of pressure rather than repair. These moments feel weighted and unresolved, turning the surface into a record of strain rather than decoration.

The process is left bare. Wire becomes both boundary and wound, tracing decisions that were made, altered, and left in place. The work carries a sense of exposure — not theatrical, but factual — where nothing is hidden behind polish or refinement.

This is not an image of harmony or calm. It is a face shaped by fracture, held together through persistence rather than balance. The piece refuses sentimentality and instead presents its structure honestly, scars intact.
