Description

The surface carries clear evidence of force and resistance. Shapes appear cut, dragged, and redirected rather than placed. Edges are sharp in places, softened in others, suggesting decisions made under pressure and then revised without concealment. Scratches, overlaps, and uneven thicknesses remain visible, allowing the process to stay exposed.

Geometry here does not settle into harmony. Lines intersect at awkward angles, colours collide, and forms feel as though they are interrupting one another mid-movement. There is a sense of direction throughout the composition, but that direction is repeatedly broken, diverted, or slowed. Motion exists, but it is controlled only partially, creating tension rather than flow.

The palette reinforces this instability. Heated reds and ochres push forward aggressively, while cooler blues and greens resist and contain them. No single colour dominates for long. Instead, the eye is forced to navigate competing vectors, each asserting its own trajectory.

Nothing in the work feels polished or resolved. The surface is marked, layered, and left raw. Decisions are visible. Corrections are not disguised. The painting does not offer comfort or clarity; it presents structure under strain and leaves the outcome unresolved.

This is work that refuses decoration. It is built from interruption, friction, and exposed construction rather than refinement.
